Trays slide out of the oven stacked with thin, glossy cookies still crackling from the heat. Almond Florentine Cookies opens with toasted almond and candied orange peel bound in golden honey. The heart bakes into caramel lace and rich butter cookie folded with vanilla cream. A drizzle of dark chocolate and warm praline sugar finishes the batch. It is the kind of scent that empties the cooling rack before anyone says a word.
